our story & our mission

French Cowboys is the story of two friends: Dylan and Franklin who grew up bouncing between cultures, speaking French with our dads and English with our moms. We spent our childhoods in big European cities, but we were lucky to always have a place to escape to on weekends and holidays, somewhere to slow down, reset, and reconnect.

When we moved to Texas, we fell in love with the Hill Country. It’s full of charm, beauty, and history, but we noticed there weren’t many places that felt like they were built for our generation. We wanted somewhere thoughtfully designed, a little off the beaten path, and still affordable. And when we couldn’t find it, we decided to build it ourselves.

Blending Cultures and Restoring

Design-Forward, Accessible, Rooted in Place

French Cowboys was born out of that mission: to shine a light on the magic of the Hill Country by restoring old motels, inns, and cabins and turning them into places that feel fresh, fun, and full of personality. We’re not about luxury for luxury’s sake—we’re about creating cool, comfortable spaces that are both design-forward and accessible.

Breathing New Life into Hidden Gems

We look for properties with soul! The kind of places most people overlook, and bring them back to life with care, creativity, and a bit of grit. Every space is different, but they all share the same goal: to help people get out of the city and reconnect with what matters.
We hope you’ll come stay awhile.
